"I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven. When I awoke I spent that on a necklace."

Oh Kanye, thou utter no truer words than thee.

When it comes to financial planning and money management, the last image that would pop into most people's minds would be that of a hip-hop celebrity. Sure, most rappers are known for rhyming about excessive spending, and that's why, Russell Smimons and his Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) have created "Get Your Money Right", a conference on financial empowerment and responsibility, taking place tomorrow (Oct. 20) at Florida Memorial University.

"Excuse me? Are you saying something? Uh Uh! You can't tell me nothing!!!"

Among the panelists scheduled to appear are Miami's own Diamond Princess, Trina; actress Gabrielle Union; Latin hip-hop artist Joell Ortiz and R&B Mega-star Ne-Yo, who quite frankly has more money than God right about now. All of them will share their experiences in being broke, making millions, wasting those millions on rims, and then filing for personal bankruptcy. Should be an eye-opening experience. I wonder if this conference is somehow related to the new Ikea opening in Sunrise? Designer cheap furniture + hip-hop culture = Getting Yo' Money right!

Visit www.hsan.org for more info. This event is free and open to all but remember, first come first serve!

P.S. Don't expect an impromptu performance by Ne-Yo! This conference is about "getting your money right" and Ne-Yo will be the first to tell you that his money's right ... yeah, $50,000 for 2 songs - that kind of right.
