Saturday: Laptop Battle at Churchill's
Machinery will go head-to-head in a battle for blood at Churchill's Saturday night. Okay, so probably blood won't factor into the battle, and the most we could hope for is that someone throws their MacBook across the room. Nope, this is just a simple battle for laptop musicianship supremacy.
The 2008 Miami Edition of Laptop Battle will feature twelves local competitors, which include such notables as Peasants With Feathers, PG-13 and the Deuce Crew, along with celebrity guest judges Otto Von Schirach and HAL 9000 (er, the super computer from 2001? Maybe not), and hosted by MC Kentsoundz. The winner receives prices from Ableton, Native Instruments and M-Audio.
So go out and support the digital contenders and hope your favorite walks out a winner, 'cause, shoot, the new version of Ableton Live 7 is $499 and even DJs/producers gotta eat!
Laptop Battle is this Saturday at Churchill's Pub (5501 NE 2nd Ave., Miami); $5. Doors open at 9 p.m.
