Kukaramakara Club Opens in Old Studio A Space

Categories: News, Nightlife

In what we will hence forth refer to as the final nail in Miami's rock venue coffin, Colombian nightclub chain Kukaramakara opens its first U.S. outpost in Miami in Studio A's former digs. Our hopes of someone coming to the venue's rescue and keeping it as the city's only mid-size live venue have been dashed.

Now, we understand Miami has a sizable Hispanic population (heck, the author of this post is Hispanic himself), but the city needs another Latin music venue like it needs another steakhouse. And to make matter's worse, we here at CrossFade aren't too fond of nightclub chains -- it's like the owners were too lazy to come up with a new concept. Is it bad that we hope the new venture's failure is just around the corner and someone with some sense comes to its rescue in time for Winter Music Conference?

The flier we received, which came in the form of a "Do Not Disturb" doorknob sign so you can tell the rest of the world that you "were at Kukaramakara Miami last night," says its the most "in" place in Colombia (we don't think the Spanish to English translation works too well, but we're just quoting).

The new establishment opens this Thursday at 10 p.m. with unnamed special guest appearances (probably not Shakira), complimentary drinks and live music.
