Ego Trippin': Rakontur's Clubland Finally Hits the Web

Tue Nov 18, 2008 at 09:00:00 AM

The brain-trust behind Cocaine Cowboys and its sequel are now exposing the nasty underbelly of the nightlife business. This week Rakontur premiered the web-based documentary series Clubland Miami, which chronicles the pissing match between Mynt Lounge and Rok Bar owner Roberto Caan versus his former partners Nicola Siervo, Rony Seikaly, and Karim Masri, as well as promoter Linley Edwards. The latter foursome went on to open Mokai.

While I enjoyed the edgy cinematography, these party impresarios failed to move me the way Jon Roberts, Mickey Munday, Jorge "Rivi" Ayala, Charles Cosby and Griselda Blanco did. But then again, popping bottles with A-Listers and credit card millionaires just doesn't quite do it for me like running game in the streets. However, if you're from Gary, Indiana, planning a sojourn to succulent South Beach, watching this will help you understand why you never step out in khakis and mandals if you want to get into the club with all the hot models. Peep the Intro below:

I've been waiting for some time for this Rakontur project. It's a nice change from the whole Cocaine Cowboy series. It shows a bit of diversity on their part. I'm also looking forward to the UM project which is in the works or completed by this time. I would hope that people appreciate the time and effort that is put into some of these projects, cause in the end, it's more of a labor of love, than it is about the money. Wouldn't you agree Rakontur?
