Franco De Vita comes to Miami

Categories: Concert Preview
PhotobucketFranco De Vita is the Latin Billy Joel.  That's not an exaggeration.  Anyone who knows Latin music can back it up.  And unfortunately I can't take credit for the comparison, I'm actually quoting, unofficially and without her knowledge or consent, an old boss and mentor from my very first days in the music industry (and my last, actually).  Still, it's an accurate comparison and one I agree with whole-heartedly.  The singer-songwriter, who was born in Venezuela but lived most of his life in Italy following his immigrant parents' return to their homeland, is responsible for scores of hits over the years.  Songs like "Un Buen Perdedor", "Solo Importas Tu", "Si La Vez" and "Te Amo" are anthems for Latinos of all walks of life.

Which is exactly why his Simplemente La Verdad 2009 tour, which continues today in New York is such a big deal.  Named for his latest album, the tour will be taking him from the Nokia Theater in the Big Apple to San Juan, passing through Mexico for a few shows before heading to L.A. and finally ending in Orlando.  Oh yeah, and he'll be stopping in Miami for a night at the JLK this Saturday.

Franco De Vita will perform at the James L. Knight Center (400 Se 2nd Ave Miami, FL 33131) Saturday, March 7th at 8:00pm.
