The Spam Allstars headline day two of Jazid's anniversary on Saturday, June 12

In the world of Miami Beach party spots, Jazid (1342 Washington Ave., Miami Beach) is a welcome oddity. Not only does the small speakeasy-like joint stand in stark contrast to our city's cavernous superclubs, but it has also managed to find a more permanent public than your average hipster bait. And now, after almost a decade and a half, Jazid continues to transfix the masses with its stellar 7 days-per-week, 365 days-per-year program of world-class jazz, funk, cumbia, and reggae. Like owner Daniel Wohlstein says: "Jazid is a community and I believe this sentiment comes from the environment, the people, and the live bands that you don't get anywhere else on South Beach."

So whether you're a regular or a first-timer, come out and join the two-day jam in celebration of Jazid's 13th Anniversary.

Day One: Friday, June 12
To open the weekend, things are starting slow and easy. The party is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. with DJ DS dropping hot wax of the hip-hop and dance variety in the upstairs lounge. A couple hours later, the opening band, six-member Venezuela-via-Colombia-via-Jamaica group Bachaco, will hit the stage for a marathon set of their dancehall-meets-cumbia club-killers. Then around midnight, Grammy-nominated fusion crew Locos Por Juana will usher in the morning hours with their sun-drenched latin reggae sound. Tickets for this first night cost only $10. Plus, ladies get free champagne till 1 a.m.

Day Two: Saturday, June 13
The second night is the main event and it carries a $30 price tag because there'll be three times the tunes. Doors open at 6 p.m. for pre-party drinks and the usual hip-hop/dance DJ routine. Then, beginning at 7 p.m., local acts Jacob Jeffries, Fabian Hernandez, Natalie Bretoneche, and the Max Ferber Trio will play a block party outside the club while latin popsters Local 34 hold down the evening action inside. After dark, headliners and hometown heavyweights the Spam Allstars will assume full control of the anniversary vibe with an hour and a half of zero-bullshit rumba funk. And finally, as if six bands weren't enough, reggae-heads Araka and afro-descarga stars Suenalo take it all deep into Sunday with sixty-minute sets of their own.
