Matt Tolfrey and Crazy Larry Play Electric Pickle Tonight
Young British DJ/producer Matt Tolfrey has made his steady upward move from local pub DJ to internationally-recognized artist in the last couple years, regularly sharing the bill with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Damian Lazarus, and Ricardo Villalobos. Drawing from the choicest elements of contemporary deep techno, minimal and glitch, he's spawned his own funked-up and stripped-down sound with releases on the Cocoon and Crosstown Rebels imprints, along with his own Leftroom Records.
Denver native "Crazy Larry" Ursini is one of the co-creators of the Cheap Sunglasses collective, which holds court in some of America's most infamous afterhours parties, from Denver to NYC and Miami's own WMC. Another young newcomer to the international underground dance scene, Larry garnered serious attention in 2007 after teaming up with producer Pier Bucci, as Glacier, and releasing the Rocky Mountains EP on the esteemed Vancouver/Berlin-based Wagon Repair label. He's shared the stage with Cassy, Bruno Pronsato, Dixon, Martin Landsky, and Jamie Jones, among others, and his vinyl-fetishist DJ sets bring a tasty mix of the rarest old wax along with some of the finest new dance cuts doing the rounds.
Matt Tolfrey and Crazy Larry are joined tonight by PL0T regulars Alejandro Sab and Michael Christopher for what is sure to be another unmissable late night of debauchery at the Pickle. Tonight also marks the return of Video Meets Radio, the VJ who gave PL0T the sleek visual flair that distinguished all their parties back in 2008, so expect this one to be an eye-filling and ear-tickling multisensory affair!
Matt Tolfrey and Crazy Larry at Electric Pickle. Friday, September 18, 10 p.m.-5 a.m. 2826 N Miami Ave., Miami.
