DFA's Tim Sweeney Plays Poplife at Electric Pickle this Saturday

​Poplife's new Saturday night at Electric Pickle kicked off with a real bang in September and has already hosted some fine artists from the indie dance contingency, like VHS or Beta (DJ set) and Alexander Robotnick. This Saturday night brings NYC-based DJ/producer Tim Sweeney, one of the youngest new talents on the DFA roster. Sweeney is the host of Beats in Space, a weekly New York FM/Internet radio show that has attracted a strong international following by featuring recording sessions with guests including Carl Craig, Erol Alkan and Lindstrom.

Adding to the rising momentum of his young DJ career, which has already taken him on tour across North America, Europe and Australia, Sweeney developed a fruitful association with Tim Goldsworthy and James Murphy of DFA, for whose Plantain Studios he interned in the mid-2000s, benefiting from these producers' musical and studio production knowledge. At DFA he's gone on to play saxophone as a session musician for the label, while trying out his own hand at original production work. With his tasteful and upbeat selections of the finest contemporary disco house, deep house and electro, Tim Sweeney should fit right in with the Poplife crowd this Saturday night at the Pickle.
