When most people think about Latin ska, chances are good that the first group that comes to mind is the legendary band from Buenos Aires, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. But there's another group that deserves just as much recognition hailing from a little town about 3,000 miles due northwest, known as Caracas. And that band is Desorden Publico (Public Disorder).

Formed in 1985 (the same year as LFC), Desorden came together when then-DJ's on the Venezuelan capital city circuit, Horacio Blanco and Jose Luis "Chaplins Chacin joined forces to start the band. When Daniel Sarmiento and Oscar Alcaino joined, the founding members where in place. With a very raw sound based predominantly upon ska, Desorden Publico set out to live up to their name. And so they have, albeit in a positive way, amassing fans and accolades across Latin America and here in the states, though their sound evolved to allow for broader influences and somewhat more complexity. Still, the elements that make Desorden Publico so unforgettable remain intact.

And you can catch them live this Saturday, January 30, in a very rare Miami show, when they hit La Covacha (10730 Northwest 25th Street). You will not want to miss this.
