I would have to say that The Mission Veo is by far one of the best local bands around. They where just in Alternative Press Magazine as one of the top unsigned bands in the country. Followed up only by Surfer Blood who was just in Rolling Stone and are blowing up pretty big right now. I really dont care for the radio friendly bands everyone is pumping up here but to each thier own. :)
Ghost of Gloria is the Best Band, not only in Broward and Palm Beach, but the country. If you have never heard them you have either had your head in the sand or you have no taste. It is time to show your true colors and vote for Ghost of Gloria.
How is it that one particular band only got votes on one day? See February 17th. You may want to disregard the pathetic attempt by one of the bands to nominate themselves and then make up a bunch of fake compliment posts. How sad. My vote goes to Dharmata.

Makayla Duvall started performing with another band in 2009 and just recently teamed up with 4PLEY in Jan 2010. The new band amped up the show and the over 1400 fans that were already following Makayla over the past year, continue to follow her shows. NO need to fight, just come out and check out a show. All these bands are amazing and talanted. I would love to see a Battle of the Bands!
I've never heard of Makayla. From what I understand this is voting for best band of 2009 and she just started in 2010. My vote is for Ghost of Gloria, a hard working group of guys that have been around for well over a year.

Kids let's not fight. The world is big enough for all the bands - there is no reason to put any of them down. It is the readers opinion - support everyone in the local scene and maybe we can build a community that supports more than just one spot for best band! My vote is for Alex Nelson but I enjoy the other bands as well.
This is a "reader's poll,' Dale, not a "battle of the bands." And you'd be doing yourself a favor if you went to a Ghost of Gloria show and watched THEIR drummer. Bring a note pad and a video camera and consider it a lesson in humility.

I vote for Alex Nelson. He works really hard to give a great and entertaining performance and certainly deserves the recognition. For the record, my second choice would be Dharmata who Alex also recommended to me!

C'mon already, stop this nonsense. Getting your friends to vote over and over again by posting this link from your myspace & facebook pages is a joke. Mikayla may be great, i have no idea, but she did her FIRST GIG with this band 4PLEY in JANUARY of THIS YEAR. Sorry Mikayla but you have to pay some dues before you go up againsts band like ghost of gloria and dharmata.

its a reader poll.. who cares.. i personally think all the bands are good.. makayla just recorded originals recently and is new to the band.. In my opinion, she is 19 and hasn't had a chance yet, but will pay her dues in time. Regardless, she is exttremely talented and will be successful if she puts in the work. A READER POLL DOES NOT DECIDE her talent and she does not deserve to be "FLAMED" . have fun with your reader poll... i wont be visiting this site again. Don't really care. I appreciate good music.. not spending my day reading blogs by HATERS. GOD BLeSS....

is there a moderator here? this mykyla by her own admission says her band does not even know her originals. there is nothing on thier site as far as original music. this isnt supposed to be a lets see who can get the most relatives to vote thing. this girl may be very good, but pay some dues. if your band doesn't know your songs: play them out for a year. you get considered NEXT year. you cant be band of the year if they dont know the songs yet. Nobody works harder and more often than ghost of gloria. I'm amazed this girl hasn't got flamed yet.

agree, at least 100 shows and playing your originals live should be the criteria. Alex, Ghost, AOctober & Dharmata fit that criteria. next year 4 4pley, i'll even vote for them then, good, but need to be aound longer. hardest thing in SF is to survive a year as a team sharing a vision. this vote is Dharmata.

Seriously, this is not a cheerleading competition. GOG has busted there asses day in and day out doing "WHATEVER IT TAKES" to get to the top (In South Florida, to even get ANYONES attention is an accomplishment) You know at the end of the day it should be about the music, live shows, and the humility of the band. Not about having your high school friends vote for you...If you have played more than 100 shows this year you have my vote!!!!! Congrats GOG.....You have it hands down!!! Not too many other bands do what we do....and you do it better than most.

MAKAYLA and 4pley. I caught them by chance at Mizner in Boca once, and was so taken by Makayla's performance that I've been following her for the last year, never a let down. And at their shows you can tell the crowd grows and grows....
After being in the music business for over 20 years and directly involved with most bands in south FL... I would have to say hands down DHARMATA has the edge on everyone...they are the complete package...great attitude, great live show, and insightful music. They are catching the ear of audiences everywhere they tour. All the other local FL bands need to sit back watch these guys and take notes!!!

I don't sing folk/midi songs. The keyboard player in my band 4Pley, does not use midi files, everything you hear is being played live. & I actually do have origianls.. My band just does not play them yet, but they are learning. I would be more than happy to participate in a battle of the bands!! BRING IT :)
