Quoting Christopher R. Weingarten: Record Store Day AKA "eBay Eve"
In our Moving Units column, Mike Ramirez at Fort Lauderdale's Radio-Active Records graciously keeps us up-to-date and comments on the current releases flying out of his store each week.

Based upon the amount of this column devoted to teasing Record Store Day last week, it should come as little surprise to our regular readers that five exclusive releases that hit shelves on Saturday, April 17, topped the sales at Radio-Active. A lot of gushing and happiness for independent retail in the area. Personally, as a purchaser of the R.E.M. Chronic Town reissue (exclusive blue vinyl!), my life is enriched.

Ramirez has plenty of happy things to say, and we find out what other exclusives gutted our wallets after the jump.

Radio-Active's Top 5 Releases for April 13-19:
1. Dum Dum Girls/Male Bonding - "Pay For Me"/"Before It's Gone" split (Sub Pop)

2. The Rolling Stones - "Plundered My Soul" 7-inch single (Universal)

3. R.E.M. - Chronic Town (I.R.S.)

4. Sonic Youth - Hits Are For Squares 2XLP (DGC)

5. Fucked Up - Daytrotter Session 7-inch (Matador)

What are your thoughts on the week in general?
"I was amazed at the amount of used industrial/goth/synth records that were purchased! It always puts a smile on my face to see kids buying records from Killing Joke and Siouxsie & The Banshees!

"It's hard to put the RSD experience into words at the moment. Although the weeks leading up to it was capped with extreme stress, the payoff was unbelievable. I cannot thank the community and the crew enough for supporting Radio-Active. It was the biggest day we've ever had in close to ten years of operations. Everyone was in such a great mood and we went above and beyond to make sure our customers got what they wanted and we were just elated with all of the positive feedback. Radio-Active had over 1,000 customers in the store; both new faces and regular ones."

And, just in case you haven't found all this by now, Radio-Active is also on Facebook and Twitter. Our shilling should be back to a moderate level for next week's edition, we promise.
