If you're a fan of Bauhaus, U2, The Cure, Interpol, Bloc Party, She Wants Revenge and many others, then you've probably heard of Ian Curtis without even realizing it. The lead singer of the now defunct Joy Division has been a major influence on all of the above mentioned bands with his deep, droning, baritone voice and penchant for dramatic performances. They were the first band in the post-punk movement in the late 70s in England, and now a little piece of them is coming to Miami.

Churchills Pub is hosting Control: A Tribute to Ian Curtis next Tuesday to honor the 30th anniversary of Curtis' death, with local bands like Daysleeper, Xela Zaid, Ian Michael, Armada!, +plus+, and DJ Dracula's Daughter and DJ Nayra spinning classics.

Check out Joy Division's December 15, 1979 performance of "She's Lost Control" after the jump.

Control: A Tribute to Ian Curtis, Tuesday, May 18, Doors open at 8pm, show starts 9 p.m, $5. Ages 18 and up. Churchills Pub, 5501 NE 2nd Ave., chuchillspub.com
