Music Newsletter: Hardcore Madness at Ground Control Friday

The sludge flung from speakers this Friday night at West Palm Beach all-ages punk venue Ground Control (122 North Military Trail) will be immeasurable when six of Florida's most pounding hardcore acts take the stage.

Sebastian's History of Monsters' punk, metal and swamp boogie mélange will undoubtedly start the pits off right, with its ferocious but friendly liveliness. Orlando quartet Oh Romeo! will continue the oomph with a bombastic but extremely polished power-punk sound that has it destined to be MTV's next emo wonder. Last year's EP, This is Why We're Here, won accolades from the Lexington Music Press, and its forthcoming album, due out later this year, is one of the scene's most anticipated releases.

Local boys Before We Sleep will headline the night's festivities. Similar to Oh Romeo! this West Palm Beach quartet emanates Fall Out Boy's refined punk resonance, but sprinkles errant screamo bursts throughout for melodies just edgy enough for grindcore enthusiasts. Tickets are $8 presale at On Fire Booking, and $10 at the door.
