The Smiths' Guitarist Johnny Marr Riffs on Leonardo DiCaprio Flick Inception

The latest in a slew of legendary artist collaborations comes courtesy of founding Smiths member Johnny Marr. The guitarist was one of the main influences of the the Stone Roses, Oasis, and then some, and no less than Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien has even been cited as saying Marr is the reason he first picked up a guitar.

Marr is now a guitarist for the Cribs (after stints playing with Modest Mouse, the Pretenders, and more). But you can also hear Marr's riffs in Christopher Nolan's latest cci-fi thriller, Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Ellen Page. As if that weren't enough star power, Michael Caine and Marion Cotillard are in it, too.

Marr worked with an orchestra and composer Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack and score for the movie, which is out July 16. That means most of the guitar riffs you hear throughout the movie are quite possibly his.

NME quotes him thusly: "I enjoyed working on Inception and it's a great soundtrack. Hans [Zimmer] invited me, and he's someone I've wanted to work with for a long time. We really got into it, it's a really good movie."

There's nothing we love more than a good collaboration. Check out the trailers below, and let us know if you hear the Marr touches throughout.
