Plies (And Young Jeezy) Cancel 2010 VH1 Hip-Hop Honors Appearances
This is the first time ever that VH1 is honoring a particular geographic area for its contribution, and as you might have heard, this year's theme is "The Dirty South" -- celebrating the music, influence and artists of the South.
As a real southern star in the hip-hop world right now, Plies was a key component to the performance line-up that was announced in March. But due to sudden scheduling conflicts, Plies has had to back out at the last minute.
The rapper has had to push back the release of his anticipated fourth album, Goon Affiliated, from May 25 to June 8 in order to lower the street price of the album for his fans. Because of this, Plies says he feels that it's important to focus on his fans and the days leading up to the release of his fourth album, Goon Affiliated.
"I had to make a choice between personally meeting with my fans during my album promo tour or performing at the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, and the choice was easy -- fans come first," Plies explained.
Plies isn't the only star skipping out on the show. Young Jeezy, Georgia's hottest rapper right now, will also apparently not be attending, although there's no word yet specifically why. (Coincidentally, Jeezy also appears with Fabolous on Plies' new albom, on the collaborative track "Look Like.")
Meanwhile Plies has promised fans of the South that he will make this up to them, as he recently announced that he'll be headlining his first national tour, which kicks off a few weeks after his album release.
As a Florida native, he promises there will definitely be a South Florida stop on his upcoming tour. In the meantime, you'll have to resort to following him on Twitter at @GoonAffiliated for the most up-to-the-minute news.
