Mixtape Of The Week: DJ Spinna - Swag Skool Volume 4

​DJ Spinna (no relation to New York based hip-hop producer of the same name) is a young gunn in the DJ game, but it seems that at age 17, he's further along than his competition. Good song selection, quality graphic,s and great mixing -- these are all elements that DJ Spinna's mixtapes always possess. Representing Miami and representing the Swag Skool DJ's, DJ Spinna is placing himself as a DJ to look out for.

His latest mixtape, Swag Skool 4, is a 23-track collection of songs that range from commercial mainstays (Ciara, Rick Ross, Souljah Boy, Trina) to upcoming promising talent (Sweets, D. Ca$h, NMB Stunnaz). The Ciara track is a highlight; she turns Souljah' Boy's latest hit "Pretty Boy Swag" into her own "Pretty Girl Swag." Local boy wonder Rick Ross, meanwhile, makes several appearances via tracks like "Live Fast, Die Young," "Super High (Remix)," and "Champagne Life (Remix)." Young Jeezy's latest "All White Everything" and "Lost My Mind" with Drake also find placements here.

Aside from the mainstream selections, what's great about Spinna is that he does a good job at previously unknown Southern artists. No matter how well versed you might be in hip-hop and/or Southern hip-hop, Spinna always reveals someone new. Hearing artists like D. Ca$h or the NMB Stunnaz, who are both Miami-based, is a refreshing selling point for the release.

Finally, another highlight is the young female MC Sweets, who pretty much comes out of nowhere on track five, "Wired To The T. These selections show that DJ Spinna is ahead of his time and boasts some A&R chops. Download the tape below.
