Inaugural MoogFest Tickets Go On Sale Today

​In the early '50s, visionary electronic music pioneer Dr. Robert Moog and his Moog Music company would forever change the landscape of popular music by developing the first music synthesizers. Early on, Moog's technology would be championed by a few select experimental musicians, mainly '70s prog rockers like Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman and proto-electronica acts like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.

But it was only a matter of time before Moog's synths and electronic music instruments in general would come to dominate music production with the advent of synth-pop and electronic dance music in the early '80s.

It's in tribute to the legacy of Dr. Moog and his indelible impact on contemporary music that the inaugural MoogFest has been announced for October 29 to 31 this year in Asheville, North Carolina, hometown of Moog Music. The initial lineup was just recently announced and already includes a stellar selection of electronic and semi-electronic acts like Thievery Corporation, MGMT, Caribou, and most notably Massive Attack, who alone are worth the trip, considering the irregularity of their appearances stateside.
