Slayer + Megadeth + Anthrax at Bayfront Park = Best Metal Show of 2010 in Miami, October 3

Tom Araya of Slayer last played South Florida at the Mayhem Festival in 2009. The band returns in October, this time to Miami's Bayfront Park Amphitheater.

​Last year was especially good for classic metal in South Florida, as all of the big four -- Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Metallica -- made it to the area for headlining shows, and Slayer played a brain-blasting set at the Mayhem Festival. Still, all of those were at points north of Miami (Mayhem was all the way up in West Palm), so now we win: Slayer and Megadeth's co-headlining American Carnage tour is coming to the Bayfront Park Amphitheater on Sunday, October 3!

Rather than tour behind new material, both bands are joining the recent trend of playing landmark albums in full. (Actually, Priest did that on its last South Florida stop, playing British Steel note for note at Hard Rock Live). Both are also tackling their landmark 1990 albums: Slayer will shred through Seasons in the Abyss, and Megadeth will tackle Rust in Peace. In fact, it was behind these records that the two acts last toured together, on 1991's Clash of the Titans tour.

The icing on this delicious metal cake: The opening act is Anthrax!!! (Crossfade has a perma-crush on you, Scott Ian).

We think Dave Mustaine sums it all up best: "If you missed us playing with our friends Slayer back in the '90s, well, here's your chance to make it up to yourself," he says. "If you miss it this time, well then you ain't metal anyway!"

The American Carnage Tour hits Miami on Sunday, October 3 at Bayfront Park. Tickets are $49.50 for reserved seats, and $35.50 for the lawn. Don't bother going to the amphitheater box office, though -- tickets will only be available there the day of the show, if there are any left.
