Transit Lounge Celebrates Our Independence This Weekend

​Who loves summer time? I know I do. Sure, it's hotter than hell in SoFla these days (next time they'll listen to you, Al Gore), and with a humidity index of, like, 975, opening the front door is practically like taking a shower, only in your own sweat. But it's that wonderful, magical time of year when you get a three day weekend every other month.

Helping Miamians celebrate their Independence this weekend, Transit Lounge. Tomorrow night they'll be featuring local funk fusionistas Xperimento. Comprising Camilo Rafael Sierra "Tumbao" on vocals, Chamo on guitar and vocals, CheFunk on trumpet, Lasex on trombone, Marcos Delgado on Bass, Kevin "Peru" Abanto on drums and "Alanbrex" Reyna on percussion, Xperimento combines elements of funk, reggae, Afro rhythms, hip hop and the Latin sounds of Argentina, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Peru.

They're billing this as the Pre-BBQ Bash. And for good reason. Transit's throwing a 4th of July BBQ on Sunday. Festivities include Rockstar Karaoke, where you'll apparently get a chance to sing with a live band! Also providing music, Funkette. And of course, there'll be BQ all night long, as well as Red, White and Blue drink specials all night for $4. And did I mention no cover? Clearly, this is a better option than crowding your living room with your friends for some Rock Band, only to have to clean up after those slobs when they leave.
