Annie Mac Returns to Miami September 23 at Electric Pickle

​What is up with all these WMC-quality bookings outside of Conference? Jeez! Couple that with the amazing indie-rock shows happening at the Fillmore Miami Beach, and we haven't seen this sort of amazing musical cornucopia happening, well, since we've been old enough to go out.

Now add to a busy fall schedule Annie Mac's appearance at Electric Pickle September 23 thanks to Toronto-based promoters Embrace. Her set will come almost a month after another BBC Radio 1 DJ, Pete Tong, plays at SET -- that's happening September 4.

We are big fans here of Ms. Mac, mainly because she is a well-respected female DJ -- a rarity that one can only equate to seeing a Leprechaun giving you a pot-o-gold at the end of rainbow. Not that there aren't great female DJs out there, but as we proved with our Best of Miami choice this year, people always equate a woman's success in the field with her looks. That sort of question never gets asked about a man, even though there are hundreds of awful male DJs spinning at very expensive, massive mega-clubs and getting paid big bucks to do so.

Our feminist point of view aside, we were hoping Embrace and local promoters Overthrow would make this a girl's night out kind of event, maybe do an all-female DJ lineup, but it's not meant to be.
