The Game and Cool & Dre have a long history together. "Hate It Or Love It," from 2005, was the first collaboration among the three. Since then, they've frequently worked together, with Cool and Dre landing placements on all of the Game's subsequent albums.
Fast forward to 2010, and the Game has continued to work on the release of his next album, The Red. Numerous setbacks, recording delays, and other hurdles have delayed the album from seeing the light of day. However, while the public waits on Game's next opus, mixtapes will seemingly keep flooding the Internet the streets until The Red sees its long-overdue release.
With their past relationship in mind, the rapper recruited Cool and Dre to executive produce a new mixtape called Brake Lights.
DJ Skee is on the boards handling mixing and hosting duties, but overall Cool and Dre oversaw the project as a whole, and they did a fine job.
On a general scan of the songs, you can definitely hear that this tape has a dark sound to it -- even for Game. Highlights include the unofficial Miami Heat anthem entitled "MIA (3 Heats)," made as an ode to the newly crowned three kings (Wade, James and Bosh).
Another highlight is a song called "Street Riders" that features Nas and Akon, which may very well be the best song on the mixtape. Following those two tracks are various guest appearances from T.I., Shawty Lo, Waka Flocka Flame, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes. Even Dre (from Cool & Dre) makes his return to the mic with a verse on "Cold Blood."
Cool and Dre have openly expressed that they'd like to use this tape as a precursor to upcoming collaborations with the Game. And you can most definitely expect Cool & Dre to make a bigger stamp in the industry as soon as Lil Wayne comes out of his prison stint. But in the meantime, Brake Lights will most definitely hold you down. Download it below.
