Preview Spike Jonze's I'm Here's Soundtrack; Sleigh Bells, Of Montreal, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and More

You probably don't recognize his name, but you know who Spike Jonze is. He slowly made his way into movies by directing music videos for the likes of Fatboy Slim, Beastie Boys, Weezer, Sonic Youth, Kanye West, and most recently, LCD Soundsystem's "Drunk Girls."
He directed a few feature films, too, with Where the Wild Things Are being his most recent conquest, but what would probably be of most interest to our Crossfade readers is his short film I'm Here.
Running at a little under 30 minutes long, the film was a hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival. But the quirky story about robot love that is loosely based on the popular kid's book The Giving Tree is so much more than that for music fans.
Not only does the film give obvious nods to Jonze's love of music (the
main character goes from not even knowing what music is, to creating a
faux hawk and going to his first show), but he creates a fake band
especially for the movie: The Lost Trees. He directed a few feature films, too, with Where the Wild Things Are being his most recent conquest, but what would probably be of most interest to our Crossfade readers is his short film I'm Here.

Though the movie was released a few months ago and can be screened online in its entirety, the soundtrack for I'm Here was just announced; and it's good. Think: Sleigh Bells, Animal Collective, Of Montreal, Girls, and a collab between Nick Zinner (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Flea (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) for starters.
Zinner and Flea team up with newcomer ASKA for "There are many of us" a soft, almost lullaby-like serenade with subtle key strokes and guitar riffs plucked so lightly you almost can't hear them.
The soundtrack won't be released until October 5, but we hunted down the tracklist and a few choice songs from the album for your listening pleasure. See below, and tell us what you think.
