The afternoon Tupac Shakur died of cardiopulmonary arrest and respiratory failure due to multiple gunshot wounds on September 13, 1996, the rap game changed instantly. The words "Thug Life" and "Makaveli" were never the same, and hip-hop enthusiasts the world over mourned the loss of a great musician.

He touched the lives of countless hip-hop fans, and was named The 86th Greatest Artist of All Time by Rolling Stone. But aside from his burgeoning acting career and social activism, he was a symbol of overcoming hardships for many, and his introspective songs about growing up in ghettos and racism really struck a chord and changed lives.

Despite his well-known conflicts with other rappers and the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop rivalry, Shakur managed to make a name for himself and went on to be a top-selling artist. He's influenced practically every rapper who grew up in the 90's, and About.com even named him as "the most influential rapper ever."

Now 14 years later, we remember some of his most influential videos and live performances. Check them out after the jump.

"I Ain't Mad at Cha"

"Do for Love"
