Going Bizerk!
There are some things Miami doesn't lack: beach, sun, pretty girls, and up-and-coming rappers. The 305 is definitely the place to be for the new kids on the hip-hop block. We just recently snatched hip-hop's latest superstar, Drake. It's even a good place for graduated natives like Rick Ross, Pitbull, and DJ Khaled.

But one of the newest kids happens to be 23-year-old North Miami MC, Bizerk, who started making music in middle school with another new kid rapper, Lunch Money. Jump ahead 10 years and Bizerk is still wreaking musical mayhem with his partner-in-crime.

One thing Bizerk never knew about his buddy: Lunch Money's father is none other than reggae legend Ian Lewis from Inner Circle and one of the owners of world-renowned recording studio Circle House. "I had no idea," recalls Bizerk, "I just knew that his dad had long dreads and was a Rasta."

But don't think it was a free ride to success. "Even with all the access and knowledge that might bring to the table," he explains, "it's actually harder 'cause you need to prove yourself and work your ass off to let folks know that you're serious and got talent!"

In fact, all that hard work and determination has led him to open up for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony this Sunday at Revolution in Fort Lauderdale. "It's crazy to think that this is going to be my first real solo show," Bizerk says. "I've been grinding so long, selling mixtapes hand to hand, doing gigs with Lunch Money every chance we get. For me to actually be on my own and opening up for Bone Thugs, who I've been listening to since I was a shorty, it's incredible!"

So what can we expect from Bizerk's first solo show? "A lot of different styles of music, man! I don't like to be boxed into just one genre. Even though I rap, I also love rock, reggae, even house music. My style is like a conduit for other types of music to come together. I'm everything and anything."

Bizerk opens for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Sunday, October 17. Revolution Live, 100 SW 3rd Ave., Fort Lauderdale. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $24, plus fees, via ticketmaster.com. Call 954-449-1025 or visit jointherevolution.net.
