Listen to WMC DJ Set by Greg Wilson, Playing Electric Pickle This Friday
![]() |
Watching him live is testament to his old school credentials -- he still spins wax and runs a vintage Revox B77 reel-to-reel tape machine for delay effects. This ain't no Traktor-laptop-DJ-wannabe bullshit!
His selections? A luscious, hedonistic, unadulterated blend of disco, funk, rare groove, and old-school breaks. Somehow Wilson manages to make the tunes our parents used to get down to sound like the freshest new jams on the airwaves. And as the "King of the Re-Edit" he bangs out his own funked-up reworks of classics by everyone from Talking Heads to A Guy Called Gerald.
The past few years have seen Wilson tour widely across all continents. Surprisingly, these trips have seen his first dates in cities such as New York, San Francisco, and Miami, where he put on the most entertaining set of this year's WMC. And this Friday, he'll be returning to the Electric Pickle for a highly anticipated performance that will summon many old fans and surely make quite a few new ones. Also on the bill is acclaimed Greek DJ-producer Argy, of the Pokerflat and Defected labels, who should provide for an edgier house and techno element to the night.
