Los Amigos Invisibles Announce New Album Not So Commercial for February 2011

Categories: News
Tough-to-label Venezuelan band Los Amigos Invisibles have just announced plans to release a new album in Febuary 2011. The album, titled Not So Commercial, will serve as the follow-up to wildly successful 2009 release Commercial, which earned Amigos a Latin Grammy win, and also made New Times' own year-end list of Top 10 Latin albums. Not So Commercial promises to feature B-sides and alternate versions of tracks off Commercial.

The band's previous record--their eighth overall to date--was so named, according to front man Julio "Chulius" Briceño, because, "when we made the record and listened to the songs, we were like, 'whoa, these songs are very commercial.'  And that wasn't really the intention, so we wanted to make a joke out of it." It'll be interesting to see how commercial the b-sides and rare cuts prove to be.

Miami has enjoyed its fair share of Los Amigos Invisibles of late, likely in large part due to Briceño's relocation to the 305 from N.Y. in recent years. However, as of yet there appear to be no Miami dates on their recently announced February-March tour. We'll just hope they rectify that soon enough and look forward to the new music.
