George Lewis Jr. (AKA Twin Shadow) is Dominican-born, Florida-raised, and New York City-bred. What's in a name? Lewis was close to his sisters growing up, particularly to his twin. He has a thing for the nostalgic -- some of his lyrics for his debut album, Forget, were crafted on an old typewriter, and his Facebook bio describes a sweaty, lonely day on a Brooklyn street instead of actual bio information. He calls his music "B-movie pop," and the unique blend of sounds were enough for Rolling Stone to highlight him as its "Band of the Week" this past October.

Twin Shadow will be taking the stage with girl-guy music duo, Phantogram, come December 2 at Grand Central.

We last saw Phantogram's Sarah Barthel and Joshua Carter in October when they stopped by the Electric Pickle on tour. Between Bathel's sultry voice and breathtaking presence, and Cartier's musicianship on guitar, we're sure the gig at the Grand will be worth fitting into your tight-nit Basel schedule. Phantogram's buzz doesn't seem like it will let up any time soon and their "beat influenced, indie pop" is in high demand, so we suggest you get to a show while you can.

In the meantime, get a taste of Twin Shadow in his video for "Slow." It gives a little taste of the '80s and an amusing parody of those CK commercials. The latest commercial features half-Dominican beauty, Zoe Saldana. We're guessing all that seriousness is in the blood.

A live version of "Slow" at NYC's Mercury Lounge.
