Go Celebrate the Season With the Recording Academy's Florida Chapter Tonight at MIA

​Ah, the holidays ... Whether you celebrate Christmas or Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or a Festivus for the rest of us, the season represents the same stuff: peace on earth, good will towards your fellow man, and totally crazy parties. Lots and lots of them.

Case in point: The Recording Academy's Florida Chapter holiday bash, called In the Mix: Second Tuesdays Holiday Party, going down this very evening at MIA at Biscayne in downtown.

If you don't really know what the Recording Academy is, you may have heard of a little thing called the Grammy awards. It's three and a half televised hours comprising the music industry's biggest night. It's also a membership organization, which is directly responsible for the awards process. You can't become a voting member unless you meet certain criteria, like landing album credits. But you can join the chapter and reap the benefits that membership entails.

The event tonight is open to the public, and it's free to all members, guests, and those interested in joining or just learning a bit more about the Academy. There will be complimentary wine and light hors d'oeuvres from 8 till 9:30 p.m. And you can get in on that good will we were talking about by bringing an unwrapped toy to benefit a local children's charity.
