Armin Van Buuren Confirmed for Ultra 2011 (UPDATE)
|Armin Van Buuren|
Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren is the latest to be confirmed for Ultra, taking place, once again, at Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. The DJ will also bring the ASOT 500 Arena. ASOT, of course, stands for A State of Trance, Van Buuren's radio show that airs in the U.S. via Sirius/XM satellite radio.
While looking through the list of confirmed acts on the homepage, we noticed that Benny Benassi's name has been taken off. Not sure if this means Benassi has dropped out of the event, but we've emailed Ultra's organizers for confirmation. Not to worry, though, these sort of lineup adjustments have happened in years past.
In other news, Festival Outlook points to several "expected" (but not yet confirmed) appearances including one by Richie Hawtin as Plastikman. That particular rumor is linked to a recent MTV interview. In it, Hawtin explains he'll be in Miami at the end of March during the weekend of Ultra. But he stops short of saying that he'll actually be at the festival. We can only assume that he means he'll be performing here that weekend but not necessarily at Ultra.
And one more time, so you don't forget: General admission tickets are still on sale for $179.95 via ultramusicfestival.com. Price is expected to go up as more acts are announced and the date nears.
UPDATE: Simian Mobile Disco confirmed to perform Saturday, March 26, by publicist. Also, Benny Benassi will still be performing at Ultra.
