The Paul Shewchuk Quartet Featuring Dee Dee Wilde at the Sky Lounge
![]() |
| Paul Sewchuck slappin' the bass. |
Regularly compared to heavy-hitters Chaka Khan and Evelyn King, Wilde's soulful balladry finds itself comfortably at home within the realms of pop, jazz, and soul. Three albums strong, she has worked with artists like James Brown, INXS, Gerald Albright, and Stevie Wonder.
Backing Wilde tonight at Miami Tower's Sky Lounge will be the Paul Shewchuk Quartet. A powerful bass player, Shewchuk was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Canada, receiving his Bachelor's Degree from Montreal's McGill University. He has been a fixture of the South Florida jazz scene since earning his Master's at the University of Miami. He'll be performing alongside pianist Mike Orta and drummer Orlando Hernandez.
The Downtown Jazz Series is a free event in conjunction with the Miami Jazz Society, the Sky Lounge Restaurant, and KCC Productions in the eleventh floor Sky Lobby of the Miami Tower. Parking is available in the building for ten dollars and the Metro Mover stops nearby at the Knight Center. Enjoy a clip of Shewchuk's bass and Mike Orta's piano backing Nicole Henry above.
