Speakeasy and small live music venue Bardot has really brought the 'burbs and the beach to Midtown since it opened a few years ago. North of Space and west of South Beach, it's right off the highway, so Winter Music Conference partiers will find their way there easily, with or without the lure of heavy bass.
Starting Tuesday, the week's lineup includes Roosevelt with Mr. Brown, who spins everything from afrobeat to electro, and DJ Terence. Wednesday, Bardot will present indie new wave from Provo, Utah via Los Angeles with Eyes Lips Eyes, West Palm electronic psychedelic band Sumsun, and Nightdrive's DJ Patrick Walsh.
LazerDisk SexParty look and sound like a good time for Thursday night. The duo likes to wear Stormtrooper masks and they're from Burlington, Vermont. Nice, right? They've performed alongside MSTRKRFT and the Roots. Also, catch Gainesville's melodic indie electronic group Oh Fortuna and DJs Pirate Stereo, whose set will likely mix rock, funk, and electro.
Friday night'll present something different, Raye 6 with Rich Media. Raye 6 performs burlesque and performance art along with live vocals. Expect the use of rose petals, confetti, and bubble girls. Called the female version of Prince, she has collaborated with Ghostface Killah, Joe Budden, and M1 of Dead Prez.
Finally, Saturday night, you can catch live electronics by Young Empires from Toronto, who've performed with Chomeo, Jamiroquoi, and Sleigh Bells. There's also Amsterdam's Palmbomen presenting Italo disco and '60s pop with a vibrant light show for the weary -- not to mention local electro duo BFGF, Miami's DJ Contra, and another 305-er, Ear Blessings.
