Apparently, Sweat Records isn't only using that bitchin' Knights Art Challenge grant it received in 2009 to throw killer parties. It's also helping spread the love to local bands through latest venture, SweatShopMiami.com.

Lauren Reskin, owner of Sweat Records, says the e-commerce site isn't meant to compete with megaretailers like Amazon. It's a tool for area acts to sell merchandise, but it isn't limited to just music. Apparel, books, and knickknacks also have a place on the site. From the classic 2 Live Crew's As Nasty As They Want to Be to FriendsWithYou's Rainbow Valley coloring book, it seems to have something for everyone.

Also, local noise act, Otto Von Schirach, has put Sweat in charge of his entire catalog of merchandise, making SweatShopMiami.com his official online store.

Feel free to use the site as well to see what's in stock at Sweat, because according to Reskin the online inventory is tied directly to what they have at the brick-and-mortar in Little Haiti. That also means locals can save on shipping by purchasing items online and then picking it up at the store at their own convenience. Although, if you are too lazy to do that, Reskin says they'll still deliver to anywhere in South Florida for a reasonable shipping-and-handling fee.

Want to sell your band's goods on the site? Sweat encourages you to contact them at emile@sweatrecordsmiami.com. Just make sure items are well packaged -- in other words, those CD-Rs you made at home don't count.
