The Silky Jazz of Sybil Gage at the Van Dyke Tonight

​Sybil Gage is one of those rare chanteuses in the world of jazz who is capable of evoking some decidedly un-jazz feelings.

Often compared to greats like Nina and Ella, Gage shares more with Janis Joplin, Eartha Kitt, Grace Slick, and Corinne Bailey-Rae than one would suspect.

Her live engagements are equally eclectic, as a songwriter in both the jazz and blues disciplines, she bobs and weaves through originals as well as classic set pieces by greats like Bessie Smith and Satchmo.

She's an avid local too, holding court in Brevard County through numerous residencies, the longest running being on Tuesdays at Heidi's Jazz Club in Cocoa Beach. And AM radio listeners might recognize her as the host of AM 1300's The Stormy Monday Jazz Show which airs 7 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.
