Atmosphere Announce Miami Show at the Fillmore September 16
Early yesterday, Sweat Records announced that Ted Leo and the Pharmacists will be performing at Churchill's Pub. And word on the street is the Junior Boys will be making their first stop in the Magic City since they played the Vagabond in October 2009.
Well, add alt-emo-hip-hop ensemble Atmosphere to Miami's list of upcoming shows. The group will be making its way to the Fillmore Miami Beach this September, in promotion of their first album in three years, The Family Sign.
Since Atmosphere's last album, 2010's To All My Friends: Blood Makes the Blade Holy, Slug (the MC) and Ant (the producer) have not shed the signature emotional brooding that forced critics to come up with the term "emo-rap."
Although, the duo may be acquiring a sense of humor, as the video for the lead single from The Family Sign projects Slug's raps about feeling unwanted onto a lonely puppy. Another change: Atmosphere has also acquired some extra band members, at least for the stage show -- a guitarist and keyboard player have made turned this two-man crew into a full-blown emo-rap quartet.
Atmosphere with special guests Evidence and Blueprint. Friday, September 16. Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets go on sale Friday, July 29, at 10 a.m. for $22 via livenation.com. Call 305-673-7300 or visit fillmoremb.com.
