Venezuelan Hip-Hoppers Cuarto Poder Kick Off US Tour Tonight at PAX

​When someone says Venezuela, you probably don't immediately think hip-hop. After all, the South American nation has long been knows for its salsa. Oh, and a strange, insane little dictatorial ferret who's more than just a little bit acquainted with Castro's backside.

But don't tell Cuarto Poder that Venezuela and hip-hop don't go together. It's been 10 years since this outfit formed, and they've spent the better part of the last decade coming up, not just in their native Caracas, but all around Latin America.
Now Cuarto Poder is extending its reach into the States, kicking off a U.S. tour tonight at PAX, right here in the Miami. And they're psyched about it.

"Happy and anxious," says Psycho. "There's not a moment to lose. We need to let the full Criollo rap flow in Miami, and the U.S."



"We have high expectations of the Latino crowd in Miami," concurs Cotur. "We can't wait to see how they react to us, and how we react to that."

The members of the Cuarto Poder crew are establishing themselves as well-rounded artists and solidifying their position as entertainers, expanding their clout from the streets to the boardrooms, as evidenced in major endorsement deals, such as with Doritos and Pepsi. But their new album In Tha House gives up nothing in terms of edge.

"It's street," assures Psycho. "Latin American street. From Caracas, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, Cuba, Bogota!"



"You can expect an accurate representation of what Cuarto Poder stands for," agrees Cotur.

"We'll see you at PAX," Psycho adds. "Tonight we kick off the tour, and we're not here to play."
