After twelve years of live mixing the weekly WNYU radio program Beats in Space, never once missing a night, Tim Sweeney has hosted pretty much every big name in electronic music.

Sweeney started the Tuesday night affair as an 18-year-old college freshman. With ambition, smarts, and commitment, Beats in Space grew, eventually welcoming crazy-talented beatmakers like Hercules and Love Affair, Carl Craig, Matthew Dear, Harvey, and Shit Robot. It's basically a chance for DJs to play their favorite music and chat without the pressure of who's doing what on the dance floor.

Sweeney was validated further when Rapture frontman Luke Jenner brought him into the DFA Records mix to work and tour with James Murphy and his powerful crew.

Sweeney, on the road again, will be appearing in Miami at the Electric Pickle. The night's opener will be Entresol, New Times' Best New Electronica Artist. And the show will also feature DJ Mike Sike and the funky electronic disco of Edwin Adams and Terence Tabeau of DHM.

Tim Sweeney with Entresol, DJ Mike Sike, and Edwin Adams and Terence Tabeau of DHM. Saturday, August 27. Electric Pickle, 2826 N. Miami Ave., Miami. The beats begin at 10 p.m. Call 305-456-5613 or visit electricpicklemiami.com.
