Wyclef Jean Announced For the Florida Marlins' Final Super Saturdays Concert

Wyclef Jean is a true renaissance man. His career started with The Fugees. Just think about that fact -- one of the most original, distinct collective voices in hip-hop was only the beginning for this Haitian rapper, producer, and politician.

After the trio's second and final album The Score went multiplatinum and won a pair of Grammys, the Fugees imploded and spawned the illustrious, still-relevant-today solo careers of Jean and Lauryn Hill.

He's released seven albums. He tried to run for the Haitian presidency in 2010. And he's currently a visiting fellow in the Department of Africana studies at Brown. And September 3, he'll be helping the Florida Marlins get down after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies.

Actually, the Fish are a few wins shy of .500, so the concert may end up being more consolation than celebration. But who cares? You'll have one fist in the air with a foam finger pointed to the sky and you'll be eating a hot dog, nachos, cotton candy, hot nuts, and Cracker Jack while Wyclef performs get-up-and-boogie classics and maybe even some hits from his time in the Fugees.

Wyclef Jean as part of Baker Concrete Super Saturdays. Saturday, September 3. Sun Life Stadium, 2267 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami Gardens. The first pitch gets hurled at 7:10 p.m. and admission is free with a game ticket via ticketmaster.com. Call 305-623-6100 or visit sunlifestadium.com.
