Rolling Stone Premieres ANR's New Video About Hurricane Survival

These dudes are prepared to deal with any natural disaster.

​Rolling Stone Magazine. There was a time when landing the cover meant you had officially arrived as a relevant rock 'n' roller.

But the print industry's dead and it's all about the internet. In the digital age, you've officially arrived when Rolling Stone premieres your music video on its website. And for Miami's favorite indie poppers, ANR, that happened yesterday afternoon when the magazine debuted the clip for "It's Around You."

The track is the latest single off the duo's Stay Kids LP, and lead singer Michael-John Hancock tells Rolling Stone that it was inspired by R&B and hurricanes.

"This started out real simple," says Hancock, "with just the vocal loop and thoughts of how it's been six years since a major hurricane hit South Florida.

"The idea of the song, and the chorus in particular, is to sonically and even lyrically connect with the traditional halftime modern R&B crowd, participation song style, but to have the actual concept of the song relating to evacuation procedures during a natural disaster."

How about that? Indie music with a purpose. Don't forget, if you find yourself stranded after a natural disaster, don't panic, simply follow ANR's advice: "Keep your toenails on the ground/Put your fingers in the air/Let your voices sing it loud/It's around you."
