Seraphic Fire's Recording of Brahms's Requiem Kicking Ass on Billboard's Classical Charts

​Hey, you totally out-of-control choral music fanatics!

Turn down that hyper-climactic fugue for a second and listen up ... Local ensemble Seraphic Fire, fronted by artistic director and conductor Patrick Dupré Quigley, just released its version of Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, a fresh slab of quasi-classical awesomeness. And already, the album is kicking ass on the Billboard charts.

"We found out yesterday that our new recording of Brahms's Requiem will debut at number seven on the Billboard classical [album] chart this week," Seraphic marketing coordinator Mike Burgess tells Crossfade.

"As the highest ranking album debuting this week," Burgess adds, "it beat out the London Symphony Orchestra's new Mahler recording, among others."

In other words, this record is straight-up slaying the classical music giants. As Burgess explains: "Since it was self-released on our label, Seraphic Fire Media, we feel it was quite the triumph of the little guy," he says. "Additionally, it's the first time a South Florida group has ever debuted in the top ten on the Billboard classical chart."
