Ladytron Celebrates a Decade of Electro Synthpop at Grand Central October 15

​It's hard to believe that it's been a decade already. Ten solid years of bleep-bleep, bloop-bloop electro synthpop courtesy of the Liverpool-based quartet known as Ladytron. Twelve years if you count that 1999 EP, Miss Black and Her Friends, released only in Japan.

After five studio records, a live album, a few compilation discs, and a handful of EPs, Ladytron is still relevant. And unsurprisingly so. In those ten years, the group's steadily matured, and its latest, Gravity the Seducer, is a perfect example.

Clash Magazine describes the album's opener, "White Elephant," as a blend of bossa nova beats "washed over with Beach Boys Smile-era piano" and "Abba-esque" harmonies.



Gravity the Seducer is less about beats and more about roots. Each track on the album is a subconscious homage to pop music that spans 50-odd years. It's ambient and far less intense than the foursome's previous efforts while still as captivating as ever.

When Ladytron wraps up its North American tour at Grand Central later this month, the Liverpool group will be celebrating yet another successful year in one of the most competitive businesses on the planet. And it's fitting. After all, Miami has always harbored an outsized appreciation for Ladytron's brand.
