As the Occupiers round out a second week sleeping outside of Stephen P. Clark Government Center, the beating political heart of Miami, they are keeping up the momentum with a mini-music festival called Occupalooza. Local bands and solo artists have participated in the process, playing last week's Hip-Hop & Rock Jam.
This weekend's event will honor the needs of the 99% with an eclectic selection of musical acts, and even the totally awesome performance art of David Rohn.
After the jump, learn more about who's playing Occupalooza.
The electronic cosmic experience of Dusthead.
Trippy tunes of Tymzu Keepa of Telekinetic Walrus.
Lava Arms, who made this madness.
And as previously mentioned,David Rohn will be there too. Here is a video of his Art Dummy performance at the Art Center South Florida during last year's Art Basel Miami Beach.
Also performing will be Dismas Gestas, a band that describes its music as "Afro-Cuban-Tribal-HipHop-Punk-Rock-Poetry-Funk, Apollo from Mars" -- plus Ricky Jackson from Bredcrumbs and Renzo drum jams. There will also be a live painting by Braxton.
It's not all fun and handheld drums down at Government Center, though. On Friday at 11 a.m., the Occupiers will be meeting at their campsite and marching down Brickell Avenue, our subtropical version of Wall Street.
