Better Than: A nice nap on the beach that ends in a blistering burn.

In the history of final live performances by outrageously popular bands, last night's Black Eyed Peas show stands out for an unusual reason. The group's time onstage outlasted the audience's interest in them.

Yes, the audience stayed through all the songs. But the band could not (and would not) discontinue babbling and just let everyone go home and remember them fondly.

A six-hour concert isn't fun. It's like spending a full day in elementary school.

You know how to save a BEP concert that goes on too long? Well, Cee Lo did. He pulled through with a short, sweet set and brought out the best surprise of the whole night: Trick Daddy, Goodie Mob, and -- Lord have mercy! -- Queen Latifah. When she walked onstage to introduce Cee Lo, it was like all motor functions were lost, limbs went limp, peripheral vision failed. There was only one ruler in that stadium when she was on that stage.

But let's start at the beginning ... At around 6 p.m., a barely audible white dude named Jordan Hollywood in a white cap and a jean vest performed one song. The DJ continued to ask us to "Make some noise for Sean Kingston!" Who kept not appearing. Then local-yokel-with-a-nice-big-smile Sean Kingston finally came out and requested, time and again, that we put our hands in the air. He gave it up for the single ladies and Haitians.

The crowd trickled in, comprised mostly of Brazilians, kids, and Brazilians with kids. It was like a nightclub for babies.

Next up was T-Pain. How come nobody told us T-Pain can sing and dance? Dude killed it up there. With no Auto-Tune, he offered up something like a gospel vaudeville act. He was silly and cute, sliding around the stage, even twirling at one point. The tweens in the crowd copied his choreographed moves. The Tallahassee boy's set was a little lengthy, but a total pleasure.

While T-Pain was all goofily delicious, Jason Derulo was all serious and sexual. He was only up there briefly. But he managed to make up for any shortcomings by being muscle-y and sweaty, and eventually topless. A few female dancers were onstage, all jamming on him, and he didn't respond in a way that was hypersexual. The show was about him and his muscles, not a horny dance. His family was in attendance.

Now, back to Queen Latifah. If you've never seen Last Holiday, please go watch it immediately. Good. Now that you're back, you understand why she is the queen. The bodacious diva came out onstage for a minute and due to shock and the crowd's hysteria, we didn't hear much of what she said. Basically, she introduced Cee Lo, with whom she apparently she goes way, way, way back. She asked us to make some noise and we complied with her royal decree.

Cee Lo came out in a peach track suit like an emperor ready for bed. Not yet over the Latifah surprise, jaws dropped when Trick Daddy popped up for a "Dro in Da Wind" duet. When was the last time any of you saw Trick onstage? It was probably the '90s still. Trick loves the kids and the kids who know Trick love Trick. Next, Cee Lo brought out Goodie Mob, bringing ATL to MIA. Latifah also came out and performed a short song. 'Twas musical madness.

I remember when the Black Eyed Peas were actually a band that made music that people could listen to without committing suicide. I can't possibly tell you how happy I am to read about this "Final Concert". Especially hearing about how ridiculously terrible it was, makes me extra happy. I really hope to never hear about any of them again until maybe one of them develops a drug problem or dies or runs out of money or goes to jail or something bad generally. I really had a lot of hate for these people in me for all these years and now I can take a moment and sigh a sigh of relief knowing that they will never spew garbage into the ears of humans ever again (At least in person). I especially hope William and Fergie spontaneously combust. That would just make my life so much more pleasant. But if that doesn't happen at least I can sleep at night knowing that nowhere on Earth will this group of people be suckering large crowds of people into buying tickets to watch them blow shit up and blast loud music through speakers that they basically didn't create. Queen Latifah shouldn't act so broke all the time either, it's sad. T-Pain, well, he's T-Pain but he did do the Miami Dolphins theme song remix so he should know better than this. Goodie Mob is obviously too ghetto for this and will probably get laughed at when they return to their projects to buy crack when they run out of money. And C-Lo, well your just like the fat, black, complete opposite of Jennifer Lopez and I have know idea how you even relate to this scene. Anyone else that performed I already forgot because I think that is the main point of this article and in turn what makes it so great. Time to FINALLY, FINALLY, forget, FOREVER about the former favorites, turned Bollywood Sell-Outs, The Wack Eyed Three. I mean Black Eyed Peas. Whatever. Good Riddins.

Mandi says:November 24, 2011 at 2:25 amWell, I just returned from the concert and it was the biggest load of trash I ever saw! The Black Eyed Peas did not make it to Miami Stadium mixing other peoples songs, singing emotional songs that nobody heard of or standing around insisting that the crowd “make some noise” when clearly half the crowd was so fed up with waiting for a decent song. All through the stands could be heard people saying “when are they going to sing some of their own music” “when are they going to perform the songs that got them here in the first place”Apl.di.ap did a 25 min mix of other peoples music on stage on his own….and I was left thinking “I thought I came to see BEP’s!! The mix was good but thats not what I came to see!Within half and hour (after waiting a ridiculously long time for them to come out) the atmosphere in the stands was lost and everyone was feeling a bit fed up.Really, a huge disappointment and I am/was a huge BEP fan for years…ever since they moved away from their gangsta-rap style but clearly that is what their passion is but it doesn’t sell tracks and make money!ReplyES says:November 24, 2011 at 12:50 pmAbsolutely agree with Mindy! what was that?? they left the stage in the middle of the show and that DJ mix thing, and all that emotional talking…blah blah blah, I know it’s thanksgiving and all,but I did not come to see a group therapy session.I was disappointed. I love their music and thought there was going to be more of it.ReplyPaul D says:November 24, 2011 at 10:58 amSo where is the truth in advertising ??? There was no sign of Marc Anthony, Rick Ross or Flo Rida at this event …. thats a few too many stars to drop out dont ya think ???!!!ReplyJillDoug says:November 24, 2011 at 11:18 amMandy absolutely nailed it. Very very disappointing concert. We could have stayed home an comfortably watched a LMFAO video and listened to other people’s music. It was like they decided that it was the end of the tour and they could flip off their fans. Don’t let David Saltz get close to a concert again.Replyella says:November 25, 2011 at 7:22 pmSo Marc Anthony wasn’t one of the surprise guests as previously announced?ReplyRick says:November 26, 2011 at 8:41 amWell said by Mandi. I paid 800.00 for two (2) VIP Pit tickets that were no way worth the money without Marc Anthony. I think that they set up the Miami fans of Marc Anthony by saying he was going to be there knowing that his fans would flock to the stadium. I think it was a conspiracy since Anthony surely made money from the deal as partner in the Dolphins. They offered no excuse for this. I am going to file a small claims suit and get my money back. I paid for BEP and Marc Anthony just like they adverstised. I go an hour wait with a sound track playing….a 45 min DJ set by WILL I AM and another by Appl D AP… (not even using their own music) like said… they never played half the songs that got them to this level… What a rip off!! Im am NOT happy. I am going to get my money back for false advertising…. I suggest a lawyer out there set up a class action with everyone who feels the same way.

This is the way that native USA citizens treat the tourists? My dear there is another worlds beyond USA borders.  This happened when people don't travel.  This kind of person is afraid to other cultures and languages.  Open you eyes, look beyond your farm!!!!!

When I bought the tickets was not restriction respect to race, ethnicity or that tourist were not allowed to go.  Sorry if our presence bother you.  If you don't want see latinos maybe try living in Wisconsin.  Que que você não goste dos brasileiros, assim é que a gente dos Estados Unidos se comporta com os turistas? OBRIGADO por NADA!!!!

Love people, not skin color.
Love people, not skin color.

In a diverse city such as Miami, you expected only to see black people watching such a diverse band as BEP? Racism and ethnocentrism comes in every color! This the 21st century, this is Miami!!! stop with instigation to divide.

Great review...But way too generous.

When 90% of your audience has left before you have you know something's not gone quite right.  When the audience excitement peaks during a) the Mexican wave before you appear and b) watching a video of LMAFO while you're getting changed off stage, you've messed up.

The BEP totally misjudged their audience last night.  Either that or they didn't care.

At best they were self-indulgent in the extreme.  Taboo's motivational speech was embarrassing, egotistical nonsense.  Yep, we all love our mums.  Will.i.am's long, really long, really, it was really long, DJ set should have been confined to his bedroom.  Inane filling ('Am I in Tampa?  Am I in Jacksonville?  Am I in Miami") ain't what we paid for.  Work out where you are before you arrive and sing us some songs when you're on stage would ya?

They have a great back catalogue, but while Will.i.am was happy to mix other people's songs in his (did I mention it was long) DJ set, he seems to have run out of energy when it came to planning any mixing or progression in their main set. There were some good songs (but not enough) and some good performances in there - but the whole was less than the sum of the parts.  They didn't build us up, or bring us down.  They just left us flat and ultimately bored and desperate to go home.

Conclusion:  a real disappointment.  Could do better. Must try harder.

As much as I love the Peas and I do love them, last nights show was such a disappointment.
