Lil Wayne ain't no sucker.
Admittedly, we here at Crossfade have gotten into the habit of hatin' on Lil Wayne.

We ragged on "How to Love" for months. We insisted on enumerating the top five signs that the Young Money maniac's finally gone soft. We called Tha Carter IV crap. We sicced rap legend and New Times columnist Luther Campbell on the YMCMB baller for his lack of community involvement. And even though we haven't heard a lick of the now-in-progress Rebirth 2, Crossfade's already decided it's gonna be The Worst Album of the Year.

Still, though, we love Weezy. And lately, as his I Am Still Music megatour proved with its hilariously insane riffs on pussy, menstrual periods, and "Nightmares of the Bottom," the most reliable bet for catching Baby Birdman in Best Rapper Alive mode is seeing that crazy motherfucker live in concert.

Which is why even Crossfade will be draggin' our sucker asses to the taping of MTV's first-ever Sucker Free Awards at LIV this Friday.

Weezy, Nicki Minaj, and Birdman on set for the "Y.U. Mad" music video.

Hosted by MTV's resident rap scholar Sway Calloway, the Sucker Free Awards is a spinoff of Music Television's "longest running franchise and #1 weekly hip-hop countdown show." The mission: "Crowning the Kings and Queens of Hip Hop."

The awards show promises all y'all suckers "a performance by Lil Wayne and Birdman," and a whole gang of other Young Money Cash Money Billionaires. According to AOL music site The Boombox, Weezy and his Daddy are planning to drop "Y.U. Mad," a track off Birdman's impending Bigga Than Life.

There's also gonna be live color commentary from the MIA's most talkative hip-hop head DJ Khaled and Miami Heat official jock DJ Irie on the decks -- not to mention "A-list hip-hop celebrities, industry tastemakers, must-tweet about moments," and big winners in categories like Rookie of the Year, Best Crew, and Who's Got Next.
