There is nothing not to like about surf rock. "Wipe Out" comes on and our human bodies are hardwired to flail about stupidly, with the pure pleasure of a child. People who don't like surf are wrong. Sad and wrong. Miami hasn't had a night to celebrate the genre in quite some time, so Crossfade welcomes Rattle with open arms.

This weekend, Mamushka's is launching this new Sunday party, bringing rockabilly, surf, doo-wop, and Motown to the dance floor. Young man Jesus Trincado Manet is the DJ masterminding the sound.

"Rattle is like therapy for me. Without trying to sound corny. I get to dust off all my old collection of rockabilly, garage, and surf, which is my roots," he says.

What to expect? The goods: The Cramps, The Link Wray, The New York Dolls, The Gene Vincent, and The Soda Pop Kids.

Manet is a Miami native who grew up skateboarding around town, filming, according to him, "stupid shit with friends," hanging out at Churchill's and sneaking into Overthrow parties. As Never Yawn he produces heavy bass and has a rotating residency at Shake and Get Low at Vagabond. He's also filming his first feature length film 7 Day Weekend, which he hopes to circulate around film fests by next summer.

Rattle, he says, is "also a gateway for me to showcase a bunch of artists - visual and musical - that I like." This includes an art show on Jan. 22 featuring Jhojan Ruiz. Manet defines him as "an excellent tattoo and lowbrow artist." A fitting complement to the music.

Manet thinks this will be a much needed night in Miami and calls it "carefree." He wants it to mostly be "somewhere people get to thrill seek and get cheap drinks and can get away from traditional crummy dance music."

The party is free and kicks off this Sunday at Mamushka's. There are six dollar PBRs and shot of whisky specials all night long.

In a video, this sums up the night for him.
