Get Faded With Spaceghostpurrp at Eve on January 15

​In 1967, The Beatles released their sprawling Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band concept album, a dense wallop of cutting-edge experimental production techniques, schizophrenic survey of genres, and, most importantly, the psychedelic youth movement's most prominent statement.

Really, the whole record, from start to finish, was about getting faded. And y'know, we're talking about a pre-Twitter society here. You could be a lot less subtle with your innuendo -- "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," being the most garish example -- and your average square would still be totally clueless.

It is in that grand tradition of righteous public intoxication that Oakland b/w Carol City swag rapper Spaceghostpurrp wants to see you at Eve this Sunday. So show up sweaty, squinty-eyed, and talking entirely too close to strangers.

When it comes to rap music, getting wasted is a basic requirement. And swag is no different. Sure, these kids spend their time thrifting, getting kicked out of malls, and making cat GIFs instead of rolling dice, cooking crack, and mugging grandmothers. But at the end of the day, everyone from the Notorious B.I.G. to Lil' B can find common ground in puffin' on a Sweet.

With that precedent in mind, you can bet Spaceghostpurrp (who BTW won a Best of 2011 nod from Crossfade for his Blvcklvnd Rvdix 66.6 mixtape) will be equally prepared to party like a rock star. Just look at his name ... It's a mash-up of Space Ghost, the most stoned cartoon superhero ever, and a misspelling of "purp," short for either purple weed, purple drank, or, more than likely, both.
