Swedish House Mafia's Masquerade Motel Returns to Miami for 2012

In exactly one day, 20 hours, and 30 minutes, Swedish House Mafia's Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso will stop being so fucking cryptic and finally reveal the details for the 2012 edition of their Masquerade Motel party in Miami.

The inaugural installment of SHM's semi-annual dance music experience took place at Pacha Ibiza in 2010. And over the past two years, Axwell, Angello, and Ingrosso have made a pair of Masquerade Motel stops in the MIA, throwing a pre-Halloween 2010 bash in Midtown as well as last year's Ultra-week extravaganza on South Beach.

So it's no massive surprise that these Mafia men will returning to Miami for another shot of late-March madness, possibly opposite Ultra Music Festival 2012.

The Scandinavian club killers initially announced plans for this year's Masquerade Motel on December 22 with a short 108-character tweet that read, "www.MasqueradeMotel.com Miami 2012."

In the intervening 11 days, though, Swedish House Mafia and its reps haven't offered any additional info about the date, lineup, or venue, just the usual clever marketing via SHM social media, e.g. the promotion of a specialized hashtag (#SHMMIAMI) and urgings to "Check in at the www.Masquerademotel.com now!"

Of course, unfounded internet rumors are already swirling that Masquerade Motel 2012 will be going down in "Sunny Isles," "some park in broward," or "South Beach again."

And meanwhile, fans and haters have been heaping equal amounts of praise and criticism on SHM's (presumed) second annual challenge to the supremacy of Ultra Music Festival.

"Ultra was terrible last year," fangirl Dianne Benford says, "Thank goodness for SHM putting on Masquerade Motel :)" while critic Steve Kuzmanov concisely complains, "come to Ultra, and quit thinking you're better than everyone else."

Stay tuned for Swedish House Mafia's official Masquerade Motel date, lineup, and venue announcement.

It won't be at Grand Central Park nor will it be on the beach.

They don't have a venue yet. So any tickets sold this week will be speculation on that. Sobe won't give permits again, many other indoor type venues are already booked with any non music related events.

According to my sources, it will most likely be at Grand Central Park.

You sure not just a Space tent at Grand Central and Swedes at sunny isles or broward?  I was told swedes and space are not working together this time. Could be wrong though!

Agree, just meant that space will be throwing their own tent this year, seperate from the Swedes *I think*

Space was never really behind the event happening in Miami. It's really a coglomerate of different people and companies, some of which have some involvement with Space. But to say the past Masquerade Motels were Space-sactioned events is overreaching.
