Everyone plugged into Miami rap has known about Gunplay and his raw, unhinged lyrical style for years.

The longtime Rick Ross running mate and Carol City Cartel member figured prominently on the Triple C's 2009 album Custom Cars and Cycles, and scored a substantial regional hit with his Waka Flocka Flame collaboration, "Rollin," among other highlights.

But the last few months have seen Gunplay's stock surge to unprecedented heights beyond South Florida, spurred in large part by his revelatory feature on Kendrick Lamar's epic, nearly seven-minute "Cartoons and Cereal," one of the best rap tracks of the year thus far.

And Gunplay-related hype only figures to grow following today's release of his long-awaited Bogota Rich: The Prequel mixtape with DJ Holiday, and a guerilla video for the tape's street single "Jump Out."

While Gunplay's energy tends to be most striking when he's bouncing off others, be it the cerebral Lamar or his 3Cs brethren, Bogota Rich places the focus firmly on Gunplay himself, its only non-Triple C cameo coming from Ace Hood.

Meanwhile, the video for "Jump Out" (in which the rapper describes himself, reasonably, as a "human L.A. riot") figures to be even more of a legend builder for the dreadlocked rapper, thanks to a bold yet simple premise, which basically amounts to Gunplay maniacally chasing a hater around the Carol City Flea Market.
