What's the best vinyl in your collection? Do you have a collection? It's OK if you don't 'cause it's never too late to start.

For me, it's a copy of 1956's Elvis, the King's second LP. Aside from the music being timeless, the record was one of several that my grandmother brought over from Cuba when she moved to the U.S. in 1959. It was also one of the first records I remember listening to as a child.

Fact is, records rock. If you're over the age of 25, vinyl records probably played a role in your life.

This weekend, three events celebrate the greatness of vinyl. But that's just three of the ten best music-related things to do in Miami this weekend under $10.



Downtown Concert Series. With Los Amigos Invisibles and Elastic Bond. Friday, April 13 at 6 p.m., Bayfront Park (301 Biscayne Blvd, Miami). Free. Venezuela's favorite acid disco-funk group brings their jazzy sound to Miami, and it's completely gratis.



Kiki Sanchez Trio. Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m., Alliance Fran├žaise (618 SW 8th St, Miami). Free. Class it up with some jazz standards and red, red wine at the South Florida French Language and Cultural Center.



Orbweaver, Slashpine, The Tunnel, and Organic Machines. Friday, April 13 at 10 p.m., Beelzebub's Cave (164 NW 20th St, Miami) $5. DIY metal shows. It doesn't get any gnarlier than that, Miami.



Xperimento. Friday, April 13 at 10 p.m., Cabaret Stage at Tobacco Road (626 S Miami Ave, Miami). $5. How often do you get to see a Grammy-nominated act for the price of really cheap cigarettes? Exactly. This is your chance, people.



Hunx and his Punx. Friday, April 13 at 9 p.m., Churchill's Pub (5501 NE 2nd Ave, Miami). $8. Seth Bogart's back in Miami, eye-fucking cute boys and golden showering anyone who'd let him.
