Emily Haines and crew also announced a 21-city fall tour that'll kick off in Rochester, New York, on Thursday, September 6, and wrap on Wednesday, October 10, in Tempe, Arizona. There will be three Florida shows and the last will take place in Miami on Friday, September 28, at the Fillmore Miami Beach.
"Youth Withouth Youth" is the first single off Metric's forthcoming record, Syntehtica, the group's fifth studio album, which is set for release on June 12.
Recently, vocalist Emily Haines and guitarist James Shaw opened up about "Youth Withouth Youth" on Metric's SoundCloud page.
"It was a pretty intense process making that song," says Haines. "It started as just one verse; a story, very slow, sad story about the decaying social state through the eyes of a deprived child."
Shaw adds, "We wanted to express some form of anger and resentment, and the feeling of being pissed off because you don't get to experience the youth that you're entitled to."
Musically, the track was inspired by "'70s sleaze," Haines says. "It's always a good way to disguise any kind of political statement."
