St. Vincent Announces Miami Concert at The Stage on May 31

Quirky, sexy, and cool, St. Vincent's Annie Clark may just be the Zooey Deschanel of rock 'n' roll, i.e. she's adorable, she's legitimate, and she's totally impossible to avoid.

Yesterday, St. Vincent was named by Spin Magazine as the 93rd best guitar player ever.

And today, we here at Crossfade would like you to know that she's coming to The Stage Miami (thanks to Sirens and Sealions singer-songwriter and Mute Miami booking boss Johanna Viscaino) for a rocking femme fatale performance on Thursday, May 31.

If you go, we can almost guarantee that you will fall in love.

Historically, the music-consuming public has a hard time accepting female rockers. A lot of the time, we're turned off by their, well, girly-ness.

Rock and roll is about edge. It's about guts. It's not about being cute and flirty. And thankfully, Clark is one of those emotionally damaged, attitude-in-your-face types, in the great tradition of Joan Jett, Fiona Apple, and Karen O. Her delivery is delicate and feminine. But her message and presentation are rock 'n' roll to the core.

And not only is she simply doing it, she's making it better.

St. Vincent with ANR and Run Sevim Run. Thursday, May 31. The Stage, 170 NE 38th St., Miami. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $25 plus fees via completeticketsolutions.com. Ages 18 and up. Call 305-576-9577 or visit the stagemiami.com.

ok comparing Annie Clark to the annoyingly self-aware doe-eyed Zooey is an insult to ms. Clark

Nope. Retro pop alt-folk Christmas music for cute hipsters.
